A Gloucester business that is part of the Mi Rewards scheme is The Candle Tree on College Street. Owner Sandra Powell said that Mi Rewards is a bonus for the city, and a way to encourage customers back into store:

“We’ve been involved with Mi Rewards from the start, it is a vital scheme for encouraging local shopping and loyalty in Gloucester. We love our city, we love our customers, so it’s fantastic to be able to reward them.

“Customers like to be able to come into the store to experience the texture, the fragrance and the feel of the candles. But as well as that, it’s the atmosphere of shopping in person. People enjoy the face to face interaction. If customers visit The Candle Tree, and return, that makes a huge difference to us as a small, local business. After the pandemic, people are keener to support local.

“A customer came to the store recently who hasn’t been out for a year. We have lots of new safety precautions in place and customers are happy to follow the guidance. It has been a challenging year for us all. But with schemes like Mi Rewards, we can re-start.”
